Guidelines for Pressure Ulcers

This one-hour instructional session will focus on a problem faced by almost every seating professional, the basic assessment and prevention of pressure ulcers. The following objectives will be fulfilled:

Identify the impact and cause of pressure ulcers.

Describe the fundamentals of wound assessment and treatment.

Discuss the AHCPR prevention guidelines and describe how to get back to basics where pressure ulcers are concerned.

Demonstrate appropriate wound staging.

Identify the most therapeutic environment for skin.
