Understanding the Relationship
Between Drive
Wheel Position and Input Device
Selection
Elizabeth Walsh, Shari Schubert
Summary: This program is designed to provide the participants with an understanding of the importance of selecting the appropriate drive wheel position based on the type of input device the end user will be utilizing. When non-proportional input devices will be used to operate powered mobility, the importance of selecting the right power base is especially crucial. The course will cover the difference between proportional and non-proportional input devices and the affect of drive wheel position on maneuvering with a non-proportional versus a proportional input device. The importance of programming in relationship to drive wheel position and proportional versus non-proportional input devices will be discussed.
