Participants will be treated to a brief history of wheelchair sports and development of specialty products. We will explore the similarities between able bodied and adaptive sports and recreational opportunities. This session will include an overview of the variety of equipment used in the most popular sports and recreational activities. Getting started and modifying used equipment can often provide entry-level experiences. With the wide selection of equipment available to the wheelchair athlete, we shall distinguish between competitive and recreational equipment choices.
